Dire Bear

Dire Bear
Level 10 (+5)
"Oh, that ain’t a boulder, son. That’s Trapjaw. He just likes to sit there for most of the day, lookin’ over his woods. From time to time he gets up to hunt or chase off a rival grizzly, but for the most part he’s just happy to sit an watch over his ‘kingdom’ in the forest."
——Halbenard, Ranger
About 12 feet long, and weighing from 7,000 to 8,500 lbs., the Dire Bear is much larger than a normal one of its kind. They are extremely powerful and attack by mauling their prey with massive claws and biting teeth that can eviscerate an average humanoid in an instant. They behave much like other bears and typically do not chase down creatures that try to avoid them. They are, however, extremely territorial and will quickly rip apart anything that threatens their home. The areas they tend to inhabit are usually fairly serene, as most Dire Bears eat up or chase off any competition in their environment once they settle in to a new home.
