Some people are born with exceptional ability. They naturally possess qualities that enable them to master skills more quickly, and simply seem to just pick things up with relative ease. History is full of exceptional warriors, wizards, alchemists, proselytizers and leaders whose actions shaped the direction of the world. History also sometimes shows (but in most cases doesn’t) examples of people born with great potential and inherent gifts didn’t rise to expectations, or squandered their aptitude on selfish or foolish exploits. Being a bit better than most people carries with it benefits and pitfalls, and it is up to the individual to make sure that they use their talents wisely

The Hard Road

The individual is born on The Hard Road, gaining an exceptional stat, but also increasing the difficulty of learning. It is much less enticing to learn new things and work hard when everything comes easily, and with little practice. A true legend will learn to fight against this instinct and fulfill their destiny.

• The Hard Road must be taken at Character Creation (usually first level).
