Denizen of Hell

Characteristics

These demons are not as brazenly ruthless as most of their brethren, having a deeper understanding of the nature of evil. That will not stop them from attacking with all of their unearthly means when provoked, however. They possess several elemental powers and unusual abilities that harken back to a more ancient, primitive species of devil. The Denizen of Hell, in essence, is a small fraction of the power of hell itself.

History

The history of these creatures is simultaneously a mystery and a known quantity. They are descendants of the first devils that were cast down to inhabit the lower planes for all eternity, and as such they have a deep connection to their environment from which they draw their power. Many mortal tell tales of powerful demons from days of old, when their evil ran wild over the planet, and the goodly races were naught but cattle. These are the children of such monsters.

Culture

The Denizens of Hell do have their own organized society, but they prefer to meet in secret to scheme against other demons. When they mingle with the rest of their ilk, however, they do not openly interact with each other, preferring to blend in with others. This is partly because it suits their purposes to torment the lesser demons, but also to protect themselves from the consequences should less sophisticated demons learn of their heritage.
