"Sometimes, when I can't find anyone around me to share in my joy, I take to the bottle. No! Not liquor, that dulls the sensation!"
——Crucia, Priestess of Pain

Description

Liquid Pain appears as a bright red liquid that roils on its own. Someone holding a vial of the stuff can feel a mild soreness that seems to reach out through the glass. Unlike many poisons, Liquid Pain does not need to be ingested to take effect. It can simply make contact with the skin of a living creature, and the moment it does the liquid will be absorbed into the flesh. It spreads almost instantaneously, wracking the entire body with extraordinarily sharp repeating waves of pain. The chemical is actually magical in nature, and thus a person's fortitude will not help them resist its effects. Only sheer willpower will render the magical fluid inert.

Lore

Liquid Pain is created by collecting the tears of other creatures currently experiencing great physical distress. A small curse is placed over the water, sealing in the sensations that were felt while the tears were being extracted. The process of making Liquid Pain is almost always considered an evil act, as creating the conditions for which the liquid can be extracted almost always guarantees the creator will be responsible for the provider's misery in some way. At best, they are simply choosing to not help the person who is in pain and instead selfishly gathering the fluid from them while they suffer.
