Mixing and Matching Classes

While generally a Player Character is restricted to utilizing a single character Class (or matching two Half-Classes), it is possible, with your GMs permission, to mix and match additional classes and half-classes together. This could mean that you add a Half-Sorcerer Class onto your Cleric, or add three Half-Classes together to become a Half-Fighter, Half-Paladin, Half-Wizard. Or you could even put two full classes together, and become a Rogue Barbarian. In all these cases, you increase the Experience Rating of your character over what is standard, and therefore require significantly more experience to Gain Level than your traditional counterpart. Alternatively, you could choose to play a single Half-Class, creating a less powerful character, but with a lower Experience Rating that allows them to gain level faster than the average character. Any mixing and matching that you do must be of different classes (i.e. no Fighter and Half-Fighter).

Creating a Half-Classed Character is done just like creating a Standard Character, with the following distinctions. Additional classes may only be added at Character Creation, and cannot be added to a character after level 1. It is suggested that creating such characters be reserved for advanced players.

Experience Rating: Your Experience Rating from all Classes is cumulative.
Hitpoints: Hitpoints from all classes are cumulative, granting you Base and Per Level Hitpoints from all classes.
Energy: Energy from all classes is cumulative.
Philosophy Training: Philosophy Training from you classes are cumulative, but you cannot raise a Philosophy above the Max Rank of 3 at Character Creation. Any excess Philosophy Ranks are lost. After first level, Philosophy Ranks are gained at the same rate as a Standard Character.
Skill Training: You gain a list of Favored Skills from all classes. Additionally, you gain starting Skill Points for each class, to be spend in each class's Favored Skills separately.
Weapon Proficiency: Weapon Proficiencies are not cumulative. You gain all Weapon Proficiencies granted by all classes and they overlap. For example, if you gain Rank 2 Weapons and Rank 3 Axes from one class, and Rank 1 Weapons and Rank 2-3 Blades from from another class, your final Proficiencies are Rank 2 Weapons, Rank 3 Axes, and Rank 3 Blades (the Rank 2 Weapons and Rank 2 Blades overlap).
Armor & Shield Proficiency: Armor and Shield Proficiencies are additive, up to a maximum Armor Rank of 6 and a maximum Shield Rank of 3. Any excess Proficiency Ranks are lost. For example, if you gain Rank 3 Armor from one class and Rank 2 Armor from another, your proficiency becomes Rank 5 Armor.
Combat Training: Combat Training from your half-classes is cumulative, up to a maximum Combat Training of +5. Any excess Combat Training is lost. If you end up with a fraction of a point in your combat training at a particular level, your bonus is rounded down as it applies to your attacks and defenses (until it is increased at a later level).
Class Features: Class Features are all cumulative. However, bonuses provided by class features are all considered class bonuses and do not stack unless otherwise stated.
Powers: Adjustments to a character's power progression is dependent on their cumulative class Experience Rating (i.e. Experience Rating before adding Racial or Talent Experience Adjustments). This does not affect any bonus powers granted by your classes.
At Class Experience of 2 or less: Gain 1 less power per Caliber (i.e. Do not gain a Basic until level 2, a Advanced until level 8, etc)
At Class Experience of 3: Use the standard character progression.
At Class Experience of 4: Gain 1 additional power per Caliber, when you first gain access to the Caliber (i.e. 2 Basic at Level 1, 2 Advanced at Level 6, etc).
At Class Experience of 6 or more: Gain 2 additional powers per Caliber, when you first gain access to the Caliber (i.e. 3 Basic at Level 1, 3 Advanced at Level 6, etc).
Specialties: When you gain a specialty (at levels 3, 11, or 17), you may choose one from any of your Class lists. You only get one specialty at a time, not one from each class.
