Non-Primary Philosophies
Primary Philosophies are granted by your Race and Class, but its is possible to gain access to new philosophies in other ways, usually through the use of a Feat (such as Divine Dabbler) or similar feature. These Philosophies are considered Non-Primary as they are not part of your core Class.
Once you have gained the first rank in a Non-Primary Philosophy, you may increase the rank of the new philosophy by spending Philosophy Points (which are gained at every even level, see Character Advancement for more details). Additionally, as you increase level and gain new class powers, you may choose any powers from the new philosophy for which you qualify (note that bonus powers granted by your class must still be chosen from a specific philosophy).
Using powers from a Non-primary philosophy are subject to a 50% increase in Stamina or Resolve cost (round up, minimum 1). This includes the cost of any augments or special actions granted by the power (augment cost should be added to the base cost of the power before determining 50% adjustment). The 50% increase also applies to Burn costs, which are considered separately from spend costs. For example, if you have a power that costs 3 Stamina and 1 Stamina Burn, you must increase the cost to 5 Stamina and 2 Stamina Burn if from a Non-Primary Philosophy. Karma costs of powers from a Non-Primary Philosophy, however, are not increased.
