Ongoing Damage

You are suffering from an effect that deals continual damage to you over time.

  • You suffer Ongoing Damage of an amount, damage type, and frequency determined by the effect.
  • Unless you succeed your initial saving throw, the first instance of Ongoing Damage is suffered immediately when the effect is incurred.
  • Until you save from the effect, you will suffer the Ongoing Damage continually, after each frequency interval has passed. This frequency interval is measured in segments (and usually consists of 5 or 10 segments).
  • Multiple Ongoing Damage effects are applied and saved against separately (even if the ongoing damage is of the same amount and damage type or occurs in the same segment).

Example

You are subject to Ongoing 10 Fire damage every 5 segments [SE, ST 3d10 vs DEX] in segment 3. After failing your initial saving throw, you immediately suffer 10 Fire damage. When 5 segments have passed, you suffer 10 Fire damage again in segment 8. You will continue to suffer 10 Fire Damage every 5 segments until you save from the effect.
