Quicksand

Quicksand occurs in areas where a mixture of sand and water form a semi-liquid pool. Creatures that enter an area of quicksand often find it difficult to escape, due to the weight of the sand pushing down on them.

While in Quicksand, you suffer the following effects:

  • You become submerged to about waist height.
  • You are Confined [SE, ST 6d10 vs STR or DEX]. Once you save, moving through the Quicksand requires a Strength Test [AT 4d10 vs STR or DEX].
  • Pulling yourself free requires a successful Saving Throw vs Confinement, a Strength Test [AT 4d10 vs STR or DEX] and that you be adjacent to more solid ground. If you have something to help pull yourself out (i.e. rope, vine, tree root, pole), you do not need to make the Saving Throw vs Confinement before attempting the Strength Test.
  • Another creature may pull you to safety (regardless of whether or not you save vs Confinement), with a Strength Test [AT 4d10 vs STR].
