Brown Mold

Brown Mold is a brown fungus that lives in dark, cold environs. It feeds off of heat, so the area around Brown Mold becomes increasingly colder as it is approached. A patch of brown mold is about 1 foot thick and covers 75% of a 5ftx5ft area. Brown Mold is surrounded by an Aura (10ft) that deals 50 Cold damage per round. When it deals this damage, the Brown Mold quickly grows in size, creating another patch for each 50 points of damage dealt. Additionally, torches and other flames that enter the area are immediately snuffed (2 such flames allow the brown mold to produce another patch). Fire damage dealt to the Brown Mold also causes it to grow larger (A new patch for each 50 points of damage dealt to an existing patch).

When exposed to direct sunlight, a patch of Brown Mold goes dormant until darkness returns for at least 24 hours. Cold damage (10 or more points) dealt to a patch of Brown Mold causes it to go inert for 1d4 days. A single attack dealing 50 or more points of Cold damage instantly kills a patch of Brown Mold.
