Fire Hazards
Fire Hazards exist anywhere that a creature is exposed to a sizeable, uncontrolled fire, such as a forest fire, burning building, or the like. Creatures within close proximity to the fire are subject to damage from the extreme heat. There is also typically a significant amount of Smoke. Fire can also occur in sudden blasts, such as igniting swamp gas.
Sudden Blasts of Fire
A sudden blast of fire can either act as an attack in combat, or as a trap. The heat of the blast determines the damage.
Size | Attack in Combat | Trap |
---|---|---|

Medium | 4d6 Fire damage and Ongoing 10 Fire damage [SE ST 3d10 vs DEX] | Fire Injury (+5 Bonus) |
Large | 4d6+25 Fire damage and Ongoing 20 Fire damage [SE ST 5d10 vs DEX] | Fire Injury (+0 Bonus) |
Burning Fires
Fire can burn over an area, consuming fuel, spreading, and becoming hotter until all the fuel is burned away. Areas of Burning flames are Damaging Terrain (damage based on size and intensity of the fire):
- Camp Fire [5 Fire damage]: A small fire, with flames that only lick up a foot or two coming up to roughly the knee.
- Bonfire [10 Fire damage]: A medium fire, with flames that reach a few feet and cover about 25% of the body
- Brush Fire [20 Fire damage]: A large outdoor fire, with flames that reach overhead. This also typical of a Burning Pyre.
- Structure Fire [30 Fire damage]: A huge indoor fire, with flames that surround you.
- Forest Fire [50 Fire damage]: A massive fire, with flames that surround and engulf you.
If the fire is very large in size (forest fire) or in an enclosed area (burning building), it produces Heavy Smoke. Otherwise, it produces Light Smoke.
Surrounding Area
Fires of significant size (i.e. large bonfire or larger) create an area around them of Damaging Terrain (5 Fire). The size of the area varies between a few feet (for a bonfire) and 30ft (for a forest fire). Additionally, prolonged exposure to a sizeable fire, even if not within a damaging area, could cause Heat Exposure.
