Cambion Characteristics

A Cambion is the offspring of a Human female and a Devil. They tend to take after their infernal parentage a bit more heavily, claiming black to red skin, black nails, and horns as well as exceptional physical and mental traits. These beings often serve as a conduit between the mortal and lower planes, sometimes even assisting their devilish cousins by luring souls into the hells. Many also serve as assassins for the lower planes, their tie to the material world allowing them to stay there for as long as they need to for their assignment. They also possess a small amount of devilish shadow power which they use to augment their attacks. When combined with their aptitude for blending in the shadows, these vile humanoids make for the ideal agent of evil in the mortal world.

Culture

Often struggling to find a place in the world until sought out by the hells, Cambions always turn to their darker side for answers. Many of them learn that they were in fact created for the specific purpose of facilitating the infernal assault on the mortal plane, and since many have often withheld their evil nature to live alongside weaker mortals that they detest, they quickly fall in line. They develop networks comprised of mortal cultists and demonic agents that help to traffic mortal souls into the lower planes for consumption, often taking a cut of the action for themselves. To other mortals, they are often seen as untrustworthy at best, and hateful most of the time. It is no surprise that such beings turn to murder without having been given a chance to live any other way.

History

A great king of Devils once lusted after a mortal priestess of unparalleled beauty and chastity. It was for these reasons that he eventually turned her own beliefs into perverted imagery from subtle suggestions while she dreamed, the act of corruption being more pleasurable than any physical dalliances. Over time, he made her susceptible to seduction in the guise of his mortal form, and once he tricked her into breaking her holy vows, they conceived the first Cambion. To the woman’s horror, the creature she spawned was of the one thing she hated most, but the deed had been done. She cast the monstrosity out and shortly after took her own life. While her struggle was ended, the resulting abomination that was created opened a type of gateway between hell and the mortal world that could never again be closed.
