Caster Considerations: A caster that has experienced the gut wrenching hunger of starvation increases the initial Rank of the blight by 1.
Location Considerations: A location that once supported lush growth but is now infertile increases the initial Rank of the blight by 1.
Description: The Blight of Famine is created by the slow starvation of intelligent creatures, their hunger condensing into a supernatural force that leeches nourishment from everything around it. You leave the 10 creatures trapped within a 1,000 square foot area without food or water, leaving them to slowly starve to death. Placed at the center of the area, and out of reach of the starving creatures, is a glorious banquet of fragrant and tempting food, magically preserved to never rot or spoil. After all of the creatures have perished from their hunger, you begin to chant, condensing the lingering hunger from their souls to permeate the land.
When the blight is first created, it starts as a Rank 1 Blight (see Blights for more information). When an additional 50 creatures starve as a result of the Blight, the Rank of the Blight increases to Rank 2. Each subsequent Rank requires 50 creatures to starve per Rank of the blight (i.e. an additional 100 for Rank 2, then an additional 150 for Rank 3, etc).
Minor Effect: Vegetation does grow within the area, no matter what nourishment it is given. If a creature attempts to eat while within the Blight, the food will turn to ash in their mouths.
Major Effect: Creatures subject to the blight start to wither and starve, causing them to lose weight at an alarming rate. For each hour suffering from the blight's Major Effect, the creature is considered to have starved for the equivalent of 1 day.
Removing the Blight: If a creature is able to make it to the banquet table alive and eat of the feast, the blight ends.
