Curse of Gluttony
Curse of Gluttony
Potency: 30
Curse Intensity: 1d6 + Ritual Caster Rank, See Curses
Components: A large feast, sufficient to feed 40 people [Value: 400gp]
Focus: A mundane empty plate
Synergy Bonus: +2 to Curse of Adiposity
Cost: 1 Karma, 5 Resolve Burn
Prep Time: 1 hour
Cast Time: 1 phase
Description: Also Known as the Curse of Hunger, this curse causes its victim to feel a constant urge to eat. The stronger the curse, the more insatiable the target's hunger.
Caster Considerations: A caster that experienced the gut-wrenching hunger of starvation while growing up gains a +4 bonus on potency and reduces the effect of backlash by one degree.
Victim Considerations: A victim that is sufficiently malnourished and underfed is considered immune to this curse.
Target: One Living Creature
Effect: The empty plate sits at a table, dressed with an extravagant feast. While the plate remains empty, the target will feel the pangs of hunger and long to eat its fill. Though the feast will spoil and decompose over time, it is magically protected from vermin and other scavengers.
Minor Curse: (Intensity: 1-5, Duration: 3 Days): The victim feels hungrier than normal, never totally satisfied with its meals. If more food is available, the target will eat about twice its normal portion.
Lesser Curse: (Intensity: 6-15, Duration: 1 month): The victim feels hunger pains, even as it finishes a full meal. If given the opportunity, the target will continue to eat until it makes itself sick, returning to eat again shortly thereafter.
Moderate Curse: (Intensity: 16-25, Duration: 1 year): The victim feels a constant, deep hunger that consumes their every waking moment. The victim will be consumed with thoughts of food and do just about anything in order to get more: beg, steal, dig through rubbish, and chase down and hunt any source of food it can find (even a treasured pet). If sufficient food is available, the victim will eat constantly, enough to cause itself harm (i.e. rupturing its stomach).
Greater Curse: (Intensity: 26+, Duration: Permanent): The victim's hunger is so intense it will eat anything to fill the void, even dirt. The victim feels a constant compulsion to ease the hunger, even turning to cannibalism if seen as a viable option. Victims affected at this level typically die from overeating or from eating something dangerous or toxic.
Breaking the Curse: Disturbing the feast and placing any portion of it upon the plate will break the curse.
