Forbiddance

Forbiddance
Ritual Rank 6 [Blight]
Potency: 30
Prerequisites: Divine Rank 6
Components: Incense and an offering appropriate to your deity
Focus: a Holy Symbol of your Deity
Cost: 1 Karma, 5 Resolve Burn
Prep Time: 1 hour
Cast Time: 1 phase
Location Considerations: If the location is in some way sacred to your deity, increase the Rank by 1.
Description: Forbiddance protects a location from creatures of alignment in opposition to your deity, and is typically used to protect sacred sites. You begin the process by burying or entombing the holy symbol at the center of the location you wish to effect, then you light the incense and spend an hour in prayer giving up an offering to your deity in exchange for exerting their divine will over the area. The offering varies from deity to deity and could include anything from a symbolic gesture, to food or coin, or even require a blood sacrifice (GM Discretion). When you've completed your prayer, you begin to chant, drawing the energies of your deity to the location.

When the blight is first created, it starts as a Rank 0 Blight (see Blights for more information). When an additional 20 offerings have been provided to the deity, the Rank of the Blight increases to Rank 1. Each subsequent Rank requires 20 offerings be made per Rank of the blight (i.e. an additional 40 for Rank 2, then an additional 60 for Rank 3, etc).

Minor Effect: Creatures within the area which are opposing in alignment to your deity (with regards to Good/Evil or Law/Chaos), are Sickened while within the area. Creatures who are only one step away from your Deity's alignment are unaffected (i.e. a Lawful Evil Deity's Forbiddance affects any Good and Chaotic aligned creatures, but not Lawful Neutral or Neutral Evil).
Major Effect: Creatures with opposing alignments are now Weakened. If the creature is opposed in regards to both alignments (i.e. Lawful Evil in a Chaotic Good deity's Forbiddance), it is also Nauseated.
Removing the Blight: To remove the Forbiddance, the Holy Symbol must be removed and destroyed, and then the area cleansed with a Deconsecrate or similar ritual.
