Orienteering

Orienteering is the ability to utilize aspects of your environment to determine direction and travel from one location to another. This includes utilizing the position of the sun, familiarity with plants that grow in directional patterns, familiarity with geographical features that suggest direction, and utilizing the positions of stars. Orienteering prevents you from getting lost in a thick forest or jungle, out on the endless ocean, or while otherwise off the beaten path. Orienteering lore includes knowledge of orienteering techniques, of major geographical landmarks and their relative location, and of legends of "inescapable" environments.
