Alchemy

Alchemy is the study of mixing and combining ingredients and is used to refine, create, and distill specific substances. Alchemy is most frequently used to create special substances including toxins, potions, poisons, acids, and other alchemical goods. Alchemy also includes knowledge of the value of alchemical goods and the best markets for their purchase and sale. Alchemical lore includes knowledge of alchemical components (and their value and rarity) and knowledge of famous alchemists and legendary alchemical items.

Crafting Alchemical Goods is a complex process, and the secrets of these processes are generally closely guarded secrets. Every time you increase your Rank in Alchemy, you also learn and may add a single Alchemical Recipe to your repertoire. Your Rank in Alchemy must meet the rank of the Alchemical Item. This means that at Rank 1 you gain a recipe of Rank 1, and at Rank 2 you gain a recipe of Rank 2 or less, etc. While rare, Alchemical Recipes can also be found through adventuring, or purchased from other Alchemists or guilds, at a cost of [Rank of Item]² x 10gp.
