Crafting

Craft Skills can be used to create any mundane item. Everything from candles to clothing to weapons to armor. In order to make an item, you must have Ranks in the Craft Skill equal to the complexity of the item (Rank 0 to 10). The amount of time it takes you to craft an item, depends on your Rank and the Rank of the item you are attempting to make. Generally speaking, the higher the rank of the item, the longer it will take to create. On the other hand, the higher your Craft Skill Rank, the more efficiently (i.e. faster) you can make items of lower rank.

Each item has a Material Cost and a Labor Cost, with the Labor cost determining the time required to make the item. Each item also has a Craft Rank, which determines the minimum Craft Skill Rank required to create the item. Each day that you work on crafting your item (assuming you meet the minimum rank) you make progress towards the Labor Cost based on the table below.

Note that certain circumstances can increase the Rank and/or Labor Cost of the item. For example, Masterwork quality items increase the Skill Rank of the item by two. Use of exotic materials (such as Mithral, Adamantine or Dragon Scale) can increase the Rank by one or two. Also, if you utilize a non-specific or related craft skill to make an item (such as using Craft (Metal Work) to make a weapon instead of Craft (Weaponsmith)) your effective Skill Rank may be decreased by one or more for the purpose of making the item. At the GM's discretion, the Rank of the item and/or effective Skill Rank necessary for an item can be increased or decreased based on these factors.
