Corruptor

"Don’t waste your time fearing me, although I most certainly enjoy it! Fear yourself, because it is the energy of your body that I will take piece by piece to devastate you and the pathetic world that you so cherish!"
——Ravings of Hatred

Whether the Corruptor is a divine force for pure evil, or a self-manifested being of revulsion and hatred is unknown. What is known about this specific breed of monster, is that they will stop at nothing in their chaotic and relentless mission to ruin every single thing that is good in the universe. The corruptor hails from a plane of evil and madness, although they do not come from a specific plane of that type. The corruptor seems to be infected by the essence of pure evil itself, and it is difficult to determine exactly where that evil originates from. It is also difficult to deduce just what happens to one who becomes a corruptor. Do they simply grow so full of hatred and toxicity that they manifest the power to corrupt and consume on their own? Or does an entity from one of these dark planes simply latch on to a host, driving them mad and sending them down the path of destruction they crave? The corruptor simply exists, and seeks to make a sacrifice of everything not already afflicted by its touch as a monument to the forces of darkness.

The Corruptor is a three stage Talent.

Corruptor I

The Corruptor knows how to drain the essence from all things with a mere touch, using the spiritual makeup of their form to fuel their foul abilities. This process leaves the victim drained of energy, and the corruptor ever stronger. By corrupting essence, they can regenerate their own wounds, and expend the energy to power their dark abilities.

  • Any Evil Alignment
  • You must have sacrificed at least 20 living beings to the Void.
  • Cost: 4 Destiny points.

♦ Soul Regeneration
While you have one or more Essence stored, you gain Regeneration equal to your Physical Rank.

Corruptor II

The corruptor gains greater mastery over the essence they takes from others. They can now fuel unholy energy into their attacks, and fuel their magics with essence, increasing the power of the spells they cast. They can even use the power of essence to absorb energy from attacks, consuming it in the process. Lastly, they gains the formidable ability to use their touch to steal the powers of other creatures by sucking memories straight out of their victim’s bodies, turning the victim’s power against them or using the power for their own twisted ends.

Power Theft
Corruptor Class Feature
Prerequisites: Corruptor II
Focus Action [FT 5, REC 2]
Cost: 2 Essence and 2 Resolve Burn
Effect: You attempt to draw forth a target's abilities, allowing you to keep them for yourself. Make an attack:
Range: Touch
Target: One Creature
Melee Attack: Corruption vs. Touch
Hit: You steal a power (or similar ability) of your choice from the target. The target loses access to the power, and you gain access to the use of that power. To use the stolen power you must spend 2 Essence and spend any Cast Time, Focus Time, or Recovery Time appropriate to the power (you need not pay any Energy Cost of the power). Your use of the power mimics that of the original creature (i.e. same dice of damage, rank of use, etc), though any weapon attacks use your weapon statistics instead of the original creature's weapon and any Casting or Focus powers use your Corruption for the Attack (i.e. in place of Devotion, Arcana, etc) and your Corruptor Might for damage (i.e. in place of Divine Might, Eldritch Might, etc) . You retain use of the power until a phase has passed or you use this ability again (you may only have one power stolen at a time). The creature regains use of the power after one phase (regardless of whether you released it early or not).

When you use this power you may choose a specific power of the creature's (that you have seen used or are aware of) or you receive a power at random (preferentially choosing higher ranked powers over lower ranked powers). You cannot steal any power of Ultimate Caliber or that requires a Karma cost. You also cannot steal any abilities that are based on natural weapon attacks or that require a morphology that you do not have (i.e. you cannot steal a wyvern's sting attack since it is based on a natural weapon, and you could only take a water elemental's engulf ability if you were also made of water, or similar liquid).
Master Augment, Second Power Theft
[Corruptor III]
Effect: You may now have two stolen powers active at a time.

Corruptor III

Gaining complete mastery over the gifts of others, the Corruptor can now use their stolen essence to gain mastery over death itself. It can use essence to reverse aging. It can even expend a large pool of stored essence to instantly reform their body into full repair instantly, twisting the essence of another living creature into the black matter that infuses their body. Lastly, the Corruptor can now unleash their full malevolence on any creatures nearby, suddenly and violently draining essence with their hateful will alone. This extraction is so violent, in fact, that it can reduce weaker creatures to ash in the process.

Prerequisites

  • Any Philosophy Rank 10
  • Cost: 2 Destiny points.

Features

♦ Awesome Essence Pool
You may now store a maximum of 10 Essence at a time (instead of 7).

If you are reduced to 0 hitpoints while you have 5 or more Essence stored, you immediately spend those 5 Essence to be returned to full hitpoints.
♦ Ageless
At any time, you may spend 5 Essence to reduce your age by 1 year.
