Breast Plate

The Breast Plate is a large, singular piece of worked metal armor, usually steel but sometimes iron, that covers the upper body of the wearer, leaving the legs, arms and head exposed. While lacking the flexibility of chain armors, Breast Plates provide a great deal of protection against heavy strikes, and can resist a great deal of impact. They can be worn individually, or as part of a full suit of plate armor. Many agile warriors prefer a Breast Plate by itself to chain or platemail, however, as they tend to be lighter and more maneuverable while providing a similar level of protection. If additional protection is desired, Breast Plates are often sold with accompanying leg and arm plates, as well as mailed gauntlets or shin guards.
