Brigandine
Brigandine Armor is a thick leather body armor with numerous small oblong steel plates riveted into the inside of the fabric. A Gamberson is typically worn under a suit of Brigandine to provide protection against the hazardous chaffing of the metal protective plates. Some suits, typically those crafted for active combatants, come with steel leg and arm plates to provide additional protection.
Originally, this armor was created for military use for lower ranking soldiers to offer mobility as well as substantial protection to vital areas. Over time, this armor became popular among civilians, nobility and adventurers as well, the outside of the armor being stylized with imagery and extra detailing to provide an element of fashion.
