Byrnie (Chain Shirt)

The Byrnie is a long coat of armor made of small interlocking chains. The armor extends down to protect the legs, stopping just below the knees, also featuring sleeves of mail that extend all the way down to the wrist. A Byrnie is the lightest and most flexible of metal armors, favored by adventurers, soldiers and knights. The nature of chain armor provides a great deal of protection against lighter attacks while also affording the wearer a comfortable level of maneuverability in battle given the weight and length of the armor. For theses reasons it is preferred for its versatility by warriors who are not sure what challenge might come their way next.
