Description

Death Adder Venom is a potentially deadly poison that appears as a murky yellow liquid, extracted from the salivary glands of the snake of the same name. Death Adder Venom is a neurotoxin that, when piercing the skin, will spread through the body and cause massive muscle failure. In addition to increasing sluggishness, the poison works internally, causing the muscles that allow breathing to cease functioning. If no treatment is given, a creature under the effects of Death Adder Venom will eventually die from suffocation.

Lore

Like most snake venom, the poison is extracted by creating a jar with a cloth bound to the top, then provoking the snake to bite down on the top of the cloth. Once its fangs have punched through the top, the head is held down while the Death Adder attempts to inject it's poison. Such a method will usually yield 3-4 doses. Other methods exist, such as delicately extracting the glands that excrete the poison. However, the potential for poisoning oneself should they rupture during the process is so high that most consider it safer to use a live snake.
