Splint Mail

Splint Mail is a heavier armor akin to types of chain mail in weight and function, however, it is comprised of long strips of "splinted" metal sewn into a reinforced leather backing rather than interlocking metal chains. A variety of different materials have been used for Splint Mail, such as bone, copper, iron, but the highest quality variations typically use steel. Splint Mail most often comes as a full suit, with a chausses, greaves and gauntlets featuring the same design. Splint Mail is very sturdy and protective, but due to the nature of the materials and how they are arranged, it also tends to be very restrictive and heavy.
