Armor Negation

Armor Negation (ArN) is a property of weapons and determines the weapon's ability to overcome the protection of armor. Whenever you roll a weapon attack against AC and the result is a Glancing Hit, add the weapon's Armor Negation to the attack roll for purposes of determining a Full Hit. Armor Negation does not adjust the attack roll for a Missed attack. You can look up your weapon's Armor Negation on the Melee Weapons and Range Weapons tables.

Examples
  • Mortimer has an AC of 13/17, with 13 representing a Glancing Hit, and 17 representing a Full Hit. The Ogre hits Mortimer with his club and hits a 14 AC, which signifies a Glancing Hit. The Armor Negation for the Club is 1, which brings his attack to a 15. This is not enough to reach Mortimer's Full Hit AC of 17, so the attack is still a Glancing Hit.
  • In the next combat, an Orc hits Mortimer with a 15, which is a Glancing Hit. But the Armor Negation of the Orc's Greataxe is 4, which increases the attack to 19. This upgrades the attack on Mortimer to a Full Hit.
  • Later, Mortimer is attacked with a crossbow bolt, with an attack of 12. Since the attack does not meet Mortimer's Glance AC, the attack is a miss and Armor Negation does not come into play.
