Area of Conflict

Occasionally a power that allows a creature to control an area will overlap with a power that allows a different creature to control the same area. This area is called an Area of Conflict. When both creatures attempt to exert control over the same area, they must make Opposed Potency Checks to determine which creature has control at that time. Whenever the situation changes a new potency check is allowed.

Example:
Two creatures, Zinq and Zanq, have an aura that allows them to control whether or not a power with the fire keyword does normal, double damage, or half damage. Serytia stands in both auras and attempts to cast a Burning Hands spell. Zinq wants the burning hands to do double damage, while Zanq wants it to do half damage. This is an Area of Conflict, and Zinq and Zanq make opposed potency checks to determine which aura has control over the Burning Hands spell. A round later Serytia casts the spell again, and Zinq and Zanq make a second opposed potency check to decide who gets to control the Burning Hands.
