Attack Rolls

Usually when you make an attack against an opponent, you must make an Attack Roll to determine if the attack hits the opponent. Roll a d20 and add all relevant modifiers. If the result is equal to or greater than the opponent's defense, the attack hits. Otherwise the attack misses.

Natural 20

A Natural 20 on an attack roll is considered an automatic hit, even if the modified result of your roll (i.e. with included bonuses and penalties) would not normally hit. A natural 20 on a weapon attack also overcomes all armor resistance, signifying an automatic Full Hit (instead of a Glance). Additionally, if the target has Damage Reduction versus the type of damage done by the attack, it does not get to use its reduction to reduce the damage.

Natural 1

A natural 1 on an attack roll is considered an automatic miss, even if the modified result of your roll (i.e. with included bonuses and penalties) would normally hit.
