Concentration
Some actions require you to concentrate on them, such as using a cast action, focused action or extended action. Additionally, concentration is required to maintain powers with a duration of ‘concentration’. For actions that require concentration, the action is disrupted when you stop concentrating (see Interrupting Concentration below). For powers with a duration of concentration, the effect ends when you stop concentrating.
- Actions that Don’t Break Concentration
- Movement. While shifting add one segment to your recovery time. While Skirmishing add two segments to your recovery time. You can not concentrate while sprinting.
- Free Actions
Disrupting Concentration
If you lose concentration while performing an action, that action is disrupted (See Disrupting an Action). Concentration can be interrupted in the following ways:
- Taking actions that cause you to stop concentrating (such as making attacks, strenuous movement, manipulating items or objects, etc).
- Taking damage from a single attack that exceeds your Healing Value. Powers that have the uninterruptible keyword are not subject to this source of interruption.
- You are affected by a power or effect that prevents you from performing the action, such as becoming Unconscious, Petrified, or being Silenced.
- You are affected by a power or effect that specifically disrupts actions (stating that you are Disrupted).
- Certain Status Effects.
- Using an action or ability that also requires concentration (you may only concentrate on one thing at a time)
- At any time the GM may deem your concentration interrupted.
