Fundamentals:Disrupting an Action
Sometimes an action that occurs over multiple segments is disrupted by another effect. Whenever you are performing an action and that action is disrupted, you immediately stop and the action does not continue. If the action is disrupted before any of the effect is resolved, you are Delayed 1 segment and do not pay any costs for the action. If the action is disrupted after any part of the effect is resolved, you take recovery for the action as normal and must pay all associated costs.
Examples
- Sasha uses Dual Weapon Strike to attack with both of her weapons. She kills her opponent with the first attack. Since she has no other targets in range, her action is disrupted before she can make her secondary attack. Because she was able to resolve part of the effect of the action, she takes her recovery time as normal and must pay all costs associated with Dual Weapon Strike.
- Jerold begins casting Sleep, which has a casting time of 6 segments. During his cast, he is hit with a crossbow bolt that interrupts his Concentration. His cast is immediately disrupted and he is Delayed 1 segment. Since his action was interrupted before the effect was resolved he does not have any recovery time or costs associated with his disrupted action.
