Karma
Karma points are awarded by the GM to characters for completing quests (and other story objectives), good roleplay, defeating challenging encounters, and other situations. Karma points can be spent by players throughout the game to lend them extra aid. Additionally, high level powers may require Karma to fuel their energies. When creating a new character, you will typically start with 1 Karma.
Spending Karma
Karma may be spent in a variety of ways:
- As a free action, you may spend 1 Karma to reroll your current die roll. You must take the result of the reroll, even if it is less favorable than the first.
- As a free action, you may spend 1 Karma to prevent 1 point of Morale Damage.
- As a free action, you may spend 1 or more Karma to treat your Mental or Physical Rank as 1 rank higher (1 rank for each Karma spent) when resisting magical effects dependent on those Philosophies. For example by spending 2 Karma, you can treat your Mental rank as 2 points higher when you are subject to Color Spray or Eyebite).
- As a free action, you may spend 1 Karma to make a skill check when you are out of Patience.
- Some Rituals, Powers, and other abilities require Karma as a cost.
- Whenever you earn a Karma, you may immediately spend it to earn 25 Experience Points (XP).
- Other effects at the GM's discretion.
Karma Limits
You are limited to accumulating 5 Karma. If you gain a Karma point and you already have 5, it must be spent immediately (usually on XP) or it is lost.
