Monstrous Races

Typically, a character is limited to creating a character from one of the standard races listed in the Races section, but occasionally a Gamemaster will make an exception and allow you to play a character of a Monstrous Race. While it is technically possible to make a character from any Monstrous Race, players should generally be limited to creatures of the Humanoid type.

Often times Monstrous Races have an Experience Rating that is higher than with standard Character Races (though in some cases, such as Kobolds and Goblins, it is lower). Additionally, many monstrous races have a minimum level higher than level 1, indicating that playing a character of said race prior to its minimum level isn't really appropriate due to their powerful or enhanced abilities (though this is left to the GM's discretion).
