These features transform an otherwise benign path into a treacherous landscape, where a single misstep could lead to a painful fall, or even worse, a deadly plunge. Pits, naturally occurring or cunningly disguised by those with malicious intent, wait to swallow up the unsuspecting, while ledges offer precarious footing and the constant threat of a sheer drop. Whether hidden or in plain sight, pits and ledges represent some of the most universal and unforgiving hazards a traveler might encounter in their journey.
