Description

This cloak is a shimmering display of constantly swirling dark red, blue and purple hues that are both fascinating, beautiful and disorienting to all but the wearer. Touching the cloth will reveal that it is made of an incredibly thin material, yet carries a weight expected of a normal garment of its type. When activated the swirling colors brighten slightly, and begin moving more rapidly into a variety of shapes and patterns before projecting their magic.

Lore

Legends say that these cloaks are made from the tanned hide of the Displacer Beast, although that tale has been proven to be false, as the ability to replicate the illusion created by the monster was in fact created by mortals first. The Displacer Beast, before just a simple nameless monster, adapted the power over time through constant exposure to wizardly magic. The creatures proved troublesome enough that eventually they were driven from the lands in which they were created.
