Heavenly Shield

Description

A Heavenly shield is typically decorated with the symbol of the deity for whom the holy order that created the item serve. Only in unique cases do they bare another marking, as the construction and wielding of such an item indicates a heavy religious devotion, and sometimes the will of a god itself. In any case, these large shields are often inlaid with gold and silver, encrusted with a small diamond at the center.

These shields have been used primarily by holy knights of various religious orders, for the secrets of their creation are not shared with less than reputable cults or non-divine magic users. If someone unaffiliated with the order of a Heavenly Holy Shield they are carrying is noticed wielding such a thing, they can often be met with questioning and sometimes even arrest or assault if they are not careful. In any case, the shield's abilities are quite useful, and more than a few common adventurers have disguised the appearance of these shields so that they might gain their benefits without being accosted by the local clergy.
