Shield of Arrow Deflection
"I said Bring ...Him ...Down! For the love of the gods, he’s the only one left on the battlefield, and he’s barely moving forward at that! I’m pretty sure he can’t even see over that thing. Aim ...Harder!"
——Frustrated Gate Captain at the castle walls
Description
A much wider shield than normal, constructed of a wood that feels and weighs closer to iron than the oak it resembles. Upon it are carved sigils of protection and repulsion. These symbols thrum with power whenever an arrow strikes the shield’s surface.
Lore
Warded by clerics, these shields are provided to elite units in service to the church, as well as their own War Priests who are occasionally required to go out on dangerous military expeditions. This is commonly done either as a service to the king or to spread the word of their god to those most certainly in need of inspiration in dangerous times.
