Area: 60 ft. cone
Effect: While you concentrate you focus in on the thoughts of creatures around you. While you concentrate on this spell, you gain new information each round that you maintain your concentration (see below). At the beginning of the round you may choose to continue concentrating on thoughts in one area, focus on the thoughts of a specific creature in the area, or you can turn to detect thoughts in a new area. If your concentration is broken, this spell ends immediately.
Time Concentrating | Information Gained |
---|---|
1 Round | The presence or absence of thoughts. Conscious creatures with an Intelligence score of 1 or higher will produce thoughts. |
2 Rounds | The number of thinking minds in the area and the intelligence score of each. If you cannot see a creature, you are unable to determine the location of the mind you detect. Additionally, if you encounter a mind with intelligence of 26 or higher, you are Stunned for 10 segments and the spell immediately ends. |
3 Rounds | Choosing one creature in the area, you attempt to read the surface thoughts of that creature. Make an attack on that creature (as below). |

Hit: You learn the immediate, surface level thoughts of the creature.
Miss: You must cast Detect Thoughts again in order to attempt to read thoughts on the same target.
