Planar Ally

Effect: When you complete the incantation, you pray to your deity to send an ally to assist with your cause, making an offering of payment appropriate to your deity and the size of the task. Some deities may find an offering of material wealth to an allied temple sufficient, while others may require much more complex (a magical item or relic) or sinister (the blood of a virgin) sacrifices. If you have a specific creature you would like to call upon, you may request that creature by name.

If the payment is acceptable to your deity, it will send you aid in the form of an Elemental or Extraplanar creature appropriate for the task. The size of the payment or offering contributes to the strength of the creature sent, but the following may be used as a general guideline. If your cause is particularly important to your deity and its beliefs, it may completely or partially waive payment.

• The level of the creature called is equal to [2 x Divine Rank].
• An appropriate payment for a simple task (5-10 minutes) is equivalent to 100gp per level of the creature. Increase this to 500gp per level for tasks taking hours and 1000gp per level for tasks taking days.

As this is a Calling, instead of a Summoning, the creature sent by your deity is at a greater risk. If a called creature is killed while assisting you, it dies (unlike Summoned creatures who are simply returned to their home plane). However, a Called creature is not subject to some of the same vulnerabilities of a Summoned creature, such as Antimagic Abilities.
