Master Specialist
The Master Specialist is already a specialized Wizard who has chosen to continue their studies, exploring the upper limits of what can be done with the school of magic they have chosen. This is actually a fairly common path among practitioners of the Eldritch Arts, as the drive and competitiveness for superiority among Wizards is partly what motivates one to become a Specialist in the first place. This path is an extension of this ideology. There have been many Master Specialists throughout history, often times hired (at an exorbitant price) in service to royalty or wealthy nobility for a service, sometimes even as a retainer to those who can afford it. Othes become famous adventurers, the glory of noble deeds completed in impossible fashion adding to their precious legacies. Their focus and dedication to their particular art eventually grants them powers that even an Archmage could only dream of.
Master Specialists choose to further focus their studies on their Favored Discipline.
Master Specialist I
The power and speed of the Master Specialists simplest spells improves through their constant study and familiarity with the magic. They becomes so skilled, in fact, that now even the spells they have not mastered can be enhanced in ways that were previously impossible, without dedicated study.
Prerequisites
- Rank 5 Eldritch
- Specialist Wizard
- At least 3 Basic Eldritch Masteries and 2 Advanced Eldritch Masteries from the Favored Discipline
- Cost: 3 Destiny Points.
Features
Master Specialist II
The Master Specialist now increases the power and speed of their next tier of spells with their growing knowledge. Casting spells from their favored school has become so natural to them that they can manipulate the energy of every spell to do more damage, last longer or be more tenacious. Because of this growing intimacy, they are able to adjust the actual casting of these spells on the fly. If they are damaged in midcast they may be able to retain the components and pick up where they left off so quickly that they are not disrupted.
Prerequisites
- Master Specialist I
- Rank 6 Eldritch
- Cost: 2 Destiny Points.
Features
- If the spell deals damage to a creature, increase damage dealt by your Eldritch Rank. This increase is applied only once per creature per casting, even if the spell deals damage multiple times (i.e. ongoing damage, or aura effects).
- If the spell has a saving throw, increase the difficulty of the Saving Throw imposed by the spell by 1d10 [STP 1d10].
- If the spell has a duration, double the initial duration of the spell (this has no effect on upkeep). When used with any other ability that allows you to double the duration, instead triple the duration.
Master Specialist III
All but their most powerful spells are now increased in strength and ease of completion. Mastery of their favored school is fine tuned to a supernatural precision and practiced ease that reduces the draining effects of those spells, allowing them to not only to use their powers more frequently, but to strike more reliably as well.
Prerequisites
- Master Specialist II
- Rank 7 Eldritch
- Cost: 2 Destiny Points.
