Ritualist

"Patience is a virtue. So many practitioners of the art simply shove their will into a bit of magical energy, shoot it out and consider themselves artists. No my friend, true art takes time and a steady hand."
——Sarlena the Croan, Witchqueen of the Laden Swamp

The Ritualist is a master of painstaking magical practice. They have taken the writings and runes of otherworldly powers and made them their own. Ritualists tend to have a healthy respect for the divine, regardless of the type of magic they use, because they understand that the power of rituals are tied deeply to the energies of the powerful denizens of alternate realities. To draw too heavily on their strength is to draw their attention, and while one will rarely face repercussions while they are alive, it is hard to say what will happen should they meet these forces upon their death.

The Ritualist is a two-stage Talent.

Ritualist I

The Ritualist trains extensively in their chosen art form, preparing their rituals with impressive speed and accuracy. Through this practice they also expand their knowledge of more powerful rituals, and their bodies become more resilient against the drain these magics place on them.

Prerequisites

Features

♦ Advanced Ritual Training
Increase your Maximum Rank for the Ritual Casting skill by 3. This is a Talent Bonus. (Note, this does not increase your current Skill Rank, only the maximum possible skill rank for your level).
♦ Accelerated Preparation
Reduce the preparation time of your rituals by half.
♦ Ritual Burn Reserve
You have an extra reserve of energy the replenishes after an extended rest. You may burn this energy in place of Stamina or Resolve burn costs for rituals. The amount of energy in your reserve is equal to your Mental Rank.

Ritualist II

A true master of their craft, the Ritualist sees the connection between all symbology, and learns to prepare multiple rituals on top of each other, allowing one canvas to impossibly contain two paintings. They also learn to conserve their energy so that it may be used specifically to pay the cost of their work. The Ritualist uses all of these enhancements to now strengthen the power of the rituals themselves, the power of their work growing ever more vibrant.

Prerequisites

Features

♦ Allocation Reserve
You gain a reserve of Energy that may be used for the allocation costs of Rituals. The amount of energy in your reserve is equal to your Mental Rank. Unused energy from this reserve cannot be spent on rituals that do not require an allocation.
♦ Multi Preparation
You may overlap the preparation time of two or more different rituals. The maximum number of rituals whose preparation time you may overlap is equal to ½ your Mental Rank. You can only do this if the preparation requirements of the rituals do not conflict with each other.
♦ Ritual Prodigy
For purposes of Ritual Prerequisites, treat your Philosophy Rank as 1 Rank higher (i.e. Divine, Eldritch, etc).
