Wererat

Wererat
Level 3 (+1)
"No, they’re still dangerous, make no mistake. It’s just that Wererats aren’t exactly the most ...mysterious of the Lycanthropes. Ever heard one squeak at the moon? Not a terribly impressive sight."
——Dandrea, Elven Researcher
A Wererat is a humanoid afflicted with the curse of lycanthropy that can shift its forms from its ordinary humanoid state, to that of a giant rat, or a hybrid of the two. Wererats are cunning and quick, preferring to ambush their enemies from the cover of darkness, and then make a quick getaway. Most Wererats prefer to live in cities, where the ability to squeeze into tight fitting passages, light weaponry, and resilience against ordinary weapons provide the biggest advantage. Not surprisingly, many such creatures tend towards thievery once they have been afflicted, finding it far easier to get away with criminal acts when one can fit oneself into a dilapidated sewer pipe at will. Still, the will of an animal lives inside every lycanthrope, and a wererat who is harmed in combat will often resort to their more feral nature, attacking with bite and blade, attempting to maim their enemy. Wererats tend to be on the smallish side, regardless of the original race they once had. Once they become cursed, their body shrinks somewhat to be a bit shorter and lighter than standard members of their race, and many even develop curious facial tics reminiscent of how a rat twitches its nose.
