The mimic is a curious monstrosity capable of occupying a space of about 5 feet by 5 feet by 6 feet, and weighing roughly 4,000 lbs. Its true form is unknown, as the creature can change shape to imitate other objects with surprising accuracy. It will typically lie in wait appearing as a large treasure chest, cabinet, or even a bed until an unsuspecting creature draws close enough. Then, it will batter the creature into submission with the protrusions of its current form, or grow strange, malformed limbs to attack with. To make matters worse, the creature secretes an adhesive similar to incredibly sticky sap which can bind a creature that touches it, rendering them unable to escape. Many suspect the being to be an Eldritch creation, but this is only speculation, as no records in history lay claim to this bizarre monster’s existence.

A creature or object comes in contact with the mimic, such as by willingly touching, being hit by a slam, or successfully hitting or glancing the mimic with weapon attack, becomes immediately stuck to the mimic with a powerful adhesive that it excretes over its entire body. The target is effectively Restrained [SE, ST 6d10 vs STR]. A target may automatically save if doused with a strong alcohol. Alternatively, the adhesive breaks down and looses cohesion approximately 1 moment after the Mimic's death. (Legendary)

  • Shapechange: The mimic can change its shape to resemble any object that fills 150 cubic feet (approx 5ft x 5ft x 6ft), such as a large chest, bed, or wide door frame. Despite what they may look like, Mimics always have a hard, rough texture if examined. A creature encountering the Mimic may make an Spot check vs the Mimic's Disguise to determine that something is amiss. This ability grants the Mimic a +8 racial bonus to Disguise checks (inc).
