Creation
Place green vitriol in a copper vessel marked with the Rune of Su, then drown it in distilled vinegar until the mixture fumes violently. Stir in powdered sulfur as sparks leap from the surface, then seal the fumes with a pinch of charcoal ash to quiet the reaction. Decant swiftly into a wax-sealed flask while chanting a binding phrase, lest the fumes scar the lungs.
Ingredients: Green Vitriol (common, 1 gp), Distilled Vinegar (common, 5 sp), Powdered Sulfur (common, 1 gp), Charcoal Ash (common, 1 sp), Wax-Sealed Flask (common, 1 sp)

In alchemical parlance, "Acid" refers to any highly caustic solution capable of burning flesh, corroding armor, or eating through materials on contact. Weak acids are common in workshops and kitchens—used in cleaning, tanning, or dyeing—but only the most concentrated and stabilized solutions are weaponized. These stronger acids are bottled into flasks or capsules and sealed with care, for even the faintest leak can sear flesh or ruin gear.

Description

Combat-grade acids are thick, smoking, and dangerously reactive. They hiss on skin, spit when spilled on stone, and bubble when poured over organic matter or metal. While their exact color and consistency vary by recipe, most shimmer unnaturally when held to the light. They are volatile by nature, and alchemists take pride in crafting blends that remain stable long enough to be carried into the field.

Lore

Alchemists have worked with acids for centuries, but only in recent generations have recipes advanced enough to weaponize them safely. Merchants and guilds sell them under cautious regulation, for the same flask that can clear roots from a canal may also blind a sentry on the wall. Some cities outright ban their sale, while others turn a blind eye and quietly purchase stock for their guards. Adventurers prize them as cheap but dangerous tools, especially against tough hides and stubborn locks.
