Creation
Distill aqua fortis with sal ammoniac within a Gel-Hes Crucible embraced with the Rune of Veyr. As the mixture glows golden, bind the vapors with a chanting of three names and stabilize with a single drop of vinegar. The fumes must be kept beneath a veil of silk, for their touch burns as surely as the liquid. Decant only once the golden hue has steadied, and seal in a ceramic flask inscribed with twin circles.
Ingredients: Aqua Fortis (rare, 25 gp), Purified Sal Ammoniac (rare, 5 gp), Distilled Vinegar (common, 5 sp), Ceramic Flask (common, 5 sp)

Description

Aqua Regia is a golden liquid that leaves faint trails of shimmering vapor when shaken. Its fumes sting the eyes and nose, and its touch burns as fiercely as any flame.

Lore

Named “royal water” for its power to dissolve the noble metals of gold and platinum, Aqua Regia has long been guarded as a state secret. Kings and guildmasters alike hoarded the recipe, using it to debase rivals’ wealth or sabotage their treasuries. Legends speak of merchants ruined overnight, their coins eaten to dust by a single flask.
