Creation
In a Crucible of Resonance, dissolve the sulfurous salt into pristine tincture until the mixture begins to hum faintly. Grind a fragment of resonant crystal into fine powder and stir it in with a glass rod until the solution shimmers with vibration. At the moment of peak resonance, drip in a single measure of dawnpetal extract, which binds light into the mixture.
Quickly pour the unstable solution into a prepared Capsule of Zulf, twisting the halves to prime the mixture and seal the seam. The capsule must then rest undisturbed in black sand for a full night to stabilize.
Ingredients: Capsule of Zulf (uncommon, 1gp), Pristine Tincture (uncommon, 5gp), Pinch of Silver Sulfurous Salt (rare, 1gp), Chunk of Resonant Crystal (rare, 10gp), Drop of Dawnpetal Extract (rare, 12gp)

Description

A Cacophonitic Seed appears as a small clay capsule, about the size of a walnut, its surface etched with faint sigils. Within swirls a volatile alchemical mixture that hums when held close to the ear. When shattered, the Seed explodes with dazzling light and concussive sound, overwhelming the senses of those nearby.

Lore

The origins of the Cacophonitic Seed are debated among alchemists. Some credit its invention to itinerant battlefield engineers, others to cloistered guild laboratories seeking a non-lethal means of dispersal. Today, the recipe is tightly guarded, and many alchemists treat the crafting of a Seed as a personal test of mastery. Though costly, they are highly prized by mercenaries, city guards, and adventurers for their ability to disorient foes without causing lasting harm.
