Demoralized

You have become demoralized and lose faith in yourself and your comrades. When in combat, roll a percentile to determine how you character reacts, according to the chart below. When an NPC or monster is Demoralized, the GM may alternatively decide the effect as appropriate to the circumstance.

Demoralized Table
01-33%Panicked
34-66%Berserk
67-100%You surrender (non-sapient creatures instead play dead).

A PC that becomes Demoralized does not need to roll on the table, and may instead choose a result appropriate for their character. They may also choose to act normally. If a PC is under an effect that automatically chooses the demoralized result (such as Barbaric Rage), they must adhere to that result. If the PC chooses at any time to Panic or Berserk, then they must continue to Panic or Berserk until they are no longer Demoralized.

If a Demoralized creature (including a PC) is subject to Terror, it automatically becomes Panicked. If the creature is subject to Dread, it is automatically Cowering. Lastly, if the creature is Enraged, it automatically becomes Berserk.
