Subduing a Creature
When making an attack, you may choose to attempt to incapacitate an opponent without killing them, subduing the creature instead. To attempt to subdue a creature, you must state that you are doing so before making an attack against it. Additionally, you suffer a -2 penalty to the attack roll, unless the weapon deals Bludgeoning damage. If you hit and the damage dealt by your attack drops the creature to 0 hitpoints, the creature must make a Resilience check [DC 20] or it is knocked Unconscious [SE, 5d10 vs CON] (without suffering injury). Creatures that are already suffering from one or more injuries, suffer a -5 penalty per injury to this check.
It is up to the GM's discretion as to whether a non-weapon attack may be used to subdue (i.e. it may not be possible to subdue using the Fire Bolts spell).
Simple Monsters
Simple Monsters automatically fail the Resilience check and are knocked Unconscious for 1 phase.
