Description

Darksteel is made of a strange mix of synthetic adamantine and a dark puplish wood that radiates a foreboding aura. Darksteel weapons can come in many shapes and sizes, but are almost always crossbows due to their artificial properties functioning better mechanically then as a solid piece. The energies found within the weapon are Unholy. These weapons constantly generate a slight, dark aura that bends the light around them, causing them to appear as if intense heat were rising off of them.

Lore

Darksteel weapons were crafted by an ancient race of under-dwelling dwarves, long since removed from the mortal plane. They were inherently incapable of performing magic, but were skilled crafters, fascinated with the nature of magical items. Darksteel was one of the few secrets left behind by their ancient race. Darksteel is not in fact magical, but appears so to magical detection, and even functions similarly to unholy magic. Unbeknownst to most historians, the dwarves harnessed the power of dark matter, an alien substance that landed on the planet long ago. Mixing it with steel, the metal became heavy and almost impossibly resilient, but gained a foul presence that harmed goodly creatures.
