Description

This Broad Sword is thick and heavy. The blade appears chipped, ancient and worn, the steel dull and stained. The hand guard and grip are made of black steel with straps of dark blue leather on the handle that are oddly cool to the touch. Inlaid in the pommel is a crystallized point of ice that constantly generates an icy fog. When the blade's abilities are used, thick and razor sharp veins of ice run along the blade, wrapping along the dulled edges and nicks, transforming the archaic weapon into a wicked tool of devastation

Lore

Frost Brand was crafted by a Frost Giant warlord thousands of years ago, not as a weapon intended for humanoid use, but as a gift to a great White Dragon he sought to bribe into his service. As fate would have it, the dragon was slain by the wielder of an equally powerful fire weapon known as Sunrazor not a week after the creature received Frost Brand. To make matters worse, after looting the dragon's hoard its cave collapsed from the structural damage of the battle. This buried the dragon, warrior and both weapons beneath a mountain of ice. Sunrazor's fiery properties allowed it to melt its way out nearly a thousand years before Frost Brand was discovered by a party of adventurers by pure happenstance. By that time the two weapons were far removed from each other and Frost Brand's current owner is unknown, although some suspect it has been reclaimed by a descendant of the Frost Giant that created it.
