"I kinda try to think of it like a damnably ugly puppy. If I don't take care of this horrible thing, who will? Besides, he likes to eat, and I like to kill. If that ain't a basis for a solid partnership I don't know what is."
——Rufus Bustertooth, half-orc fighter

Description

Rawfang appears in the basic shape of a Sword, but most would be hard pressed to describe it that way. The blade appears to vaguely resemble a shark's body, albeit flatter and coated with spines, fangs and unearthly tendrils and tentacles that constantly search for prey or tactile sensation. At the tip of the blade is a sharp, wicked fin that flops about frantically, always trying to free itself of its predicament. At the bottom of the hilt, what some would call the head of the beast, is a gaping, chomping maw filled with razor sharp teeth. Protruding from it are two long, prickly tongues that may intertwine and straighten to become hard as steel, or loose as flapping skin. Needless to say, it is dangerous to wield such a weapon untrained.

Lore

Rawfang was once a normal Sword that was placed through an unnatural magical tunnel into the Dark Vast, a plane of abominations and impossible realities by an unwary half-orc warrior of earthly means. When it came out the other side, the weapon had transformed into a hideous creature, still vaguely shaped like a blade of its former type. Not wanting to be unarmed in such a dangerous place, and being no stranger to taming powerful beasts, the half-orc dominated it through brute force and instinctual guidance, at the cost of a few extremities. Much to his shock he learned that once a bond was formed with such a weapon, it could be wielded quite effectively, although with a few difficulties due to its never ending hunger and propensity for flailing about wildly on occasion. Other such weapons may exist if they were to be taken through a similar magical gateway, but they would all most likely be dangerous to wield, and some would say not worth the trouble.
