Mirage Reality
Magic Resistance: No
Ultimate Eldritch Spell [Magical, Perceptive, Mimic]
Prerequisites: Eldritch Rank 10
Disciplines: Illusion
Potency: [2d8 + Eldritch Rank]
Cast Action [CT 10, REC 8]
Components: V, S
Cost: 1 Karma and 8 Stamina Burn
Duration: 1 phase or until dismissed, dispelled or disrupted.
Upkeep: Spend 2 Stamina Burn to extend the duration by 1 phase.
Area: 200 ft diameter area
Effect: When you finish casting the spell, you change the landscape around your according to your specifications. You cause the area to look, sound, smell, and feel as you desire. You may remove (i.e. cause to disappear or make invisible), change, or add structures and items, altering the natural landscape as you see fit. You cannot remove or change the appearance of creatures within the area (nor add creatures), but they can hide within the illusion as if it were real. The changes made by this spell persist for the duration of this spell and can only be changed with a subsequent casting of Mirage Reality.

  • You cannot create solid objects within a space occupied by a creature, though you could surround a creature, effectively trapping it. You are limited to creating natural objects and terrain, and cannot produce magical effects. Natural terrain includes walls of iron, lava flows, and even a vacuum (by removing all the air).
  • The illusions created by Mirage Reality are effectively real. For example, a bridge created over a chasm will function as a bridge and allow you to cross without falling. Likewise, removing the wall of a building causes to temporarily not exist, allowing creature to move through its original location without impediment (possibly causing the structure to collapse unless supported in some other way).
  • While you cannot create creatures within the area, you can create Traps, harmful Environmental Conditions, or other hazards. Any damaging effects that you create are considered partially real. Any damage dealt by objects or conditions you create is half Psychic damage and half "normal" damage appropriate to the effect. Creatures immune to Mind-affecting abilities suffer the "normal" damage, but are immune to the Psychic effect.
  • When the spell ends, all effects of the Mirage disappear and the landscape returns to its original state, though any structures damaged by the effects of Mirage Reality remain damaged. Any creatures or objects occupying a solid space are shunted harmlessly to the nearest unoccupied location.
