Curse of Forms
Curse of Forms
Potency: 40
Curse Intensity: 1d6 + Ritual Caster Rank, See Curses
Components: Two preserved eyes, one from a creature of the same race as the victim, and one from a creature of the same race as the focus form.
Focus: A living, mortal creature of the type the victim shall change in to.
Cost: 1 Karma, 7 Resolve Burn
Prep Time: 1 hour
Cast Time: 1 phase
Description: This curse causes its victim to adopt the form of a different creature. The stronger the curse, the greater the change.
Caster Considerations: A caster that has mastered the Polymorph spell (or similar power) gains a +4 bonus on potency and reduces the effect of backlash by one degree.
Victim Considerations: A victim that has already had its form changed is immune to the effects of this curse. Additionally, non-mortals are immune to the curse.
Target: One Living, Mortal Creature
Effect: You pluck the eyes from the focus creature and insert the preserved eyes, which magically graft themselves in place. As the curse takes effect, the two eyes merge together as one. The focus creature becomes blind and still as a statue, preserved in stasis. Over the next day, the victim slowly changes form, as specified by the severity of the curse.
Minor Curse: (Intensity: 1-5, Duration: 1 Month): The victim takes on some minor cosmetic traits of the target creature. While somewhat disturbing, the traits can be covered up easily via makeup or similar methods.
Lesser Curse: (Intensity: 6-15, Duration: 7 years): The victim takes on additional traits of the target creature, adopting a hybrid form between the focus creature and themselves. The exact change is up to the GM, but the new form favors the original, with size and basic shape being preserved (i.e. a humanoid retains basic humanoid shape). However, this may result in the victim growing new vestigial limbs or a tail. The victim's change is significant, and they are difficult to recognize as their former selves (treat them as being involuntarily disguised with a +10 bonus to Disguise checks). The victim's attributes and other core statistics remain unchanged, though it may gain/lose natural attacks, or movement capabilities. The victim also experiences occasional behavioral impulses of the new form.
Moderate Curse: (Intensity: 16-25, Duration: Permanent): The victim completely changes into the creature (as Polymorph), though it retains its own mind (and mental stats and abilities). The victim may also still speak and communicate if it has a language (and a mouth or similar structure). The victim also experiences semi-frequent behavioral impulses of the new form.
Greater Curse: (Intensity: 26+, Duration: Permanent): The victim completely changes into the creature. Even losing its personality and mind. It acts as a normal member of its new species.
Breaking the Curse: Removing the merged eye from the focus creature breaks the curse, returning the victim to normal. This also frees the focus creature from stasis, though it is likely still blind.
